Counted
0 requests refused since this page opened. Every request below goes through a gate that refuses any address that is not this site; the number is how many it refused.
- Requests made by this page.
- Requests made by the speech recogniser, which runs in its own thread and reports each refusal here.
Not counted
The gate has no view of these, so the number above says nothing about them either way.
- Your microphone and your device's audio path. The operating system owns them. Talk receives samples from the microphone only while you are talking, and cannot see anything the system itself does with the device.
- The browser's own traffic. Extensions, address lookups and the scripts that start this page do not go through the primitive the count watches. Talk's own scripts and styles come from this site alone — but that is how Talk is built, not something the count measured.
- Cache Storage, where the speech model is kept. It can fetch on its own when told to. Talk only ever writes into it bytes it has already verified from this site, so it is never told to — but a fetch from there would not be counted.
- The service worker — the background script that keeps Talk's own page for opening with the network off. It runs outside this page, in its own thread, so its fetches do not go through the gate the count watches. It is built to keep only this site's own files, to pass everything else to the browser untouched, and never to hold a response from anywhere else — and a test drives it against each of those — but that is how it is built, not something the count measured.
Switch on Airplane Mode and keep dictating. Everything here works the same, because nothing was reaching anything — and that check covers all of the above.
Dictation designed to stay on your device.
Speak, and watch your words become text here — with the network switched off.
Your speech will be transcribed on this device, and nowhere else.
